Jenna Carberg, Founder & PPD Survivor

Meet Jenna Carberg, the courageous founder of PostpartumDepression.org, and learn about her story and how PPD set her on a path to help other moms.

Jenna Carberg: The Survivor & Founder of PostpartumDepression.org

In 2016, Jenna Carberg found herself on a journey that would change her life and the lives of countless others. After the birth of her daughter, she was thrown into a battle with postpartum depression (PPD), an experience that was as unexpected as it was overwhelming.

What should have been a time of joy and celebration became a struggle with intense emotions, a constant feeling of isolation, and a yearning to escape. This personal battle led Jenna to create PostpartumDepression.org, a sanctuary and resource for mothers and families navigating the often misunderstood and stigmatized condition of postpartum depression.

The Beginning of the Battle

Jenna’s terrifying experience with PPD began shortly after her daughter’s birth.

Instead of the blissful emotions she had anticipated, Jenna was met with overwhelming sadness, frequent crying, and an all-consuming exhaustion that no amount of rest could alleviate.

Despite trying various antidepressants and consulting with multiple doctors, relief seemed out of reach. She wondered why she couldn’t enjoy motherhood as others around her did.

“I wasn’t like this before,” Jenna recalls. “I was always the logical one, the steady presence. But after giving birth, I didn’t recognize myself. Every day was a battle just to make it through.”

During this time, Jenna’s husband was her rock. He noticed the changes in her immediately and provided unwavering support, even when the path to recovery seemed endlessly long.

Jenna’s battle with PPD lasted nearly nine months, a period marked by daily tears, a constant feeling of disconnection, and even a stay at a rehab facility. But her story didn’t end there.

The Turning Point

The turning point in Jenna’s journey came when she was prescribed an ADHD medication by a psychiatrist who recognized that her overwhelming fatigue was exacerbating her depression. This medication, combined with others, helped Jenna regain the energy she so desperately needed to care for her daughter. With time, the darkness began to lift, and Jenna found herself reconnecting with the joy of motherhood.

“Finally, the tears went away and so much joy filled its place,” Jenna says, reflecting on her recovery. “It wasn’t an overnight change, but week by week, I started to feel like myself again.”

As she emerged from the depths of PPD, Jenna knew she had to do something to help other mothers who were struggling as she had.

She wanted to create a space where women could find the support, resources, and community they needed—somewhere they could turn to when the world felt overwhelming. And so, PostpartumDepression.org was born.

The Birth of PostpartumDepression.org

PostpartumDepression.org was launched with a simple yet profound mission: to ensure that no mother ever feels alone in her journey with PPD. Jenna poured her heart into building a platform that offers not just information but also understanding, community, and hope. The site provides a wealth of resources on postpartum depression, including personal stories, expert advice, and a curated list of specialists for those seeking professional help.

“Our goal is to dispel the myths surrounding PPD, to share the truths of this condition, and to uplift the spirits of those who are struggling,” Jenna explains. “We want every mother to know that it’s okay to ask for help and that recovery is possible.”

Since its inception, PostpartumDepression.org has been a beacon of hope for over a million families. The community that Jenna and her husband have fostered through this platform is one of empathy and solidarity, where mothers can share their experiences, find comfort in knowing they are not alone, and receive the support they need to heal.
